My photographic journey began over 20 years ago, armed with a small Canon camera and a passion for documenting the world around me. In my 20s, I set myself a goal to see the world (student loans be damned). Each new adventure deepened my appreciation for photography, particularly landscape, wildlife, and--most of all--portrait photography. I constantly sought out new places, embraced new experiences, and connected with different people to learn their individual stories. Building rapport, often with no common language, sometimes led to the privilege of capturing their portraits—an opportunity I always accepted with immense gratitude.
The unexpected arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic and the birth of my two wonderful children brought my travel adventures to a temporary halt. During those challenging early days of lockdown, I found a sense of normalcy in picking up my camera once more. Confined to my home and unable to leave, I turned my lens to everyday objects instead: plants, mugs, and eventually, timepieces. With the latter, I fell down a rabbit hole, discovering a world of different mechanisms, finishing techniques, materials, technological innovations, and rich individual histories--each a story waiting to be told through my lens.
